Information on Crime and Safety in the state of Georgia
Georgia is the largest state in the southeastern part of the United States. The industry in the said state is always booming. Atlanta is the largest city of Georgia which is also said to be the main distributor of products/goods to the Southeast states as well as considered to be the “communications center.” Georgia is the leading manufacturer of paper and textile products as well as the major distributor of processed chicken in the whole country. Apparel and transportation equipment are also among Georgia’s major merchandise. The state of Georgia is also the leader in marble production as well as the production of barite and kaolin.
There are also a lot of tourist spots in Georgia. Examples of great tourist attractions would be the following: Andersonville Prison Park, Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, the Little White House at Palm Springs, the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, and a whole lot more. The very important question to ask would be: “Is Georgia the leader in Crime out of all the states in the US?”
The answer is that Georgia isn’t, but it sure belongs to the top 10 when it comes to property crimes. All the states in the US have property crimes as no. 1 when it comes to the highest number of crime incidents per 100,000 inhabitants. Georgia was seen to have a total of 4,172 property crimes per 100,000 residents in 2005. Living in Georgia, and even being in Georgia just for a few days on a business trip or a vacation would mean that you have to keep your guard if you would want to avoid being a crime victim. Here are some ways on how to keep your self protected from thieves, burglars, and the likes:
A few sense steps to aid you in preventing auto theft would be to never leave your vehicle’s engine running while unattended and never leave your cars keys inserted into the ignition or just left inside the vehicle. It is also good to install a security device into your car such as a steering wheel lock, J-bars, etc. You also have to keep your car locked and your windows rolled up even if you are just parked in front of your house.
To protect your home, the best thing to do is to install security alarms as this will deter the burglars. Noise after all is the biggest foe of a thief or burglar. Installing a timer that would turn your lights on and then off from time to time will also prevent thieves from targeting your home, especially while your away because they will think people are in the house.
