Popular people from Maine include actress, Liv Tyler, novel writer Stephen King, professional wrestler Scott Garland in the World Wrestling Entertainment more popularly known as 'Scotty 2 Hotty.'

The state was ranked as the 49th among the states. Moreover, Maine experienced 1.2 Murders per 100,000 people in the 2000 record making it the 48th highest rate for Murder. But the not only do people get hurt but their properties are also taken away from them once in a while. The state possessed Property crime rate of 2,510.2 per 100,000 people. For each 100,000 people 531.4 Burglaries were reported. Regarding Vehicle theft, it happened 103.7 times for every 100,000 citizens, which granted Maine the rank of 50th highest for vehicle theft among the states. Speaking of vehicle theft, the types of car that were most-stolen in 2007 are the following: 1999 Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee,1986 Chevrolet Full Size C/K 1500 Pickup, 1993 Ford Escort, 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, 1997 Ford F150 Series,1994 GMC Full Size C/K 1500 Pickup,1997 Ford Taurus, 1996 Dodge Caravan, 1995 Saturn SL, and the1999 Bombardier (Ski Doo).
