Home Security Systems Maryland
“In a world in which the total of human knowledge is doubling about every ten years, our security can rest only on our ability to learn”
- Nathaniel Branden
Maryland was historically a component of the Chesapeake Bay Colony where tobacco was planted as a currency crop reliant on forced labor. Despite this saddening part of their history, based on the report by the US Census Bureau, as of August 2007, Maryland is the richest state in the United States. This position was once held by New Jersey. Another interesting fact about Maryland was that it was founded with the intent of providing religious tolerance of England’s marginalized Catholics. However, the Parliament subsequently overturned the abovementioned policy and dispirited the exercise of Catholicism in Maryland. Due to such, the Catholics have never become a majority even from early Colonial period. IN spite of Protestantism’s majority, U.S. Catholic tradition was prominent in the state. The first American-born citizen who became a saint, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, was a resident of Maryland.
Nevertheless, even the citizens of the wealthiest and one of the most religious states may encounter crime problems. The State of Maryland’s total Crime Index of 4,816.1 reported incidents per 100,000 people earned it the rank of having the 12th highest total Crime Index. Maryland, unfortunately, has the third [3rd] highest incident for Violent Crime of all the states. With regard to Property crime, the state had a record of reported incident rate of 4,029.5 for each 100,000 people this earned them the rank of 17th highest. Furthermore, Maryland had 8.1 Murders per 100,000 people in the year 2000. Incidents of Vehicle Theft happened 539.5 times for every 100,000 citizens, thus making Maryland as number 6 in the category of vehicle theft. As added trivia. the types of car that topped the list of most stolen cars in Maryland are 1994 Dodge Caravan, 1994 Honda Accord, 1991 Toyota Camry,1996 Ford Taurus, 2000 Honda Civic, 2000 Dodge Intrepid, 1996 Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee, 1994 Plymouth Voyager, 1997 Ford Crown Victoria and 2001 Dodge Stratus.
These facts are proof that it’s never a bad idea to invest on your security. Law-offenders do not choose which state to attack, in fact, being a wealthy state, criminals may find it to be a treasure chest of steal-able properties. So, buy your own car alarms, secure your properties through a dependable security system. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
