Missouri Home Security Systems
The state of Missouri, also known as the Show Me State, is situated at the Midwestern area of US. It has a total of 114 counties including its capital which is the City of Jefferson. Moreover, it has four major urban areas which are St. Louis, Columbia, Kansas and Springfield respectively. Its standing abbreviations are MO and US MO respectively.
Missouri is considered as the 21st highest in terms of land area among the other states of US. Its largest city is Kansas City while its largest metro area is the St. Louis. It has a total land area of 69 704 square miles. On the other hand, in terms of population density, the state ranks as the 18th highest with an estimated population size of 5 878 415 or about 84 persons per square mile.
It could be said that Missouri is a good place to stay with. However, one of its standing problems is the crime in the place. In fact, just in the year 2003, about $42,244,232 were damaged by the burglaries based from the reports of the Missouri Uniform Crime Program. It was also ranked as the 16th highest state with the most number of crime occurrences in the year 2000. In particular, there had been 490 violent crimes reported, 4 037.7 crimes against property, 6.2 murder, 323.9 aggravated assaults, 2 851.3 larceny thefts and 441.4 vehicle thefts per hundred thousand residents. Other crimes reported and their ranks among the US states include forced rape as the 41st highest, robbery as the 20th highest, burglaries as the 20th highest, as well as violent crimes as the 19th highest.
It could also be seen through the statistics of crime rates in Missouri that from the year 2000 to 2006, all of the reported crimes increased in number except for larceny theft which decreased by 6 000 in number. And so, due to the heightening number of crimes in the state, the people, as well as the security systems are alarmed. To address the problem, the use of alarms and sensors on every home is encouraged greatly. Motion detectors are also provided so that the police would easily detect and be alerted if any crime happens. The addition of more outside lights is also advised by the security system of Missouri so that burglars could not enter the house easily without being noticed. These safety measures, no matter how small they are, could greatly help in decreasing the number of crimes in the state.
