New Hampshire is a notable state in US located at the northeastern part of USA. It is notable because it is the first state in the United States to possess its own constitution and it is the only one that does not have sales and income taxes.

Some of the things that characterize New Hampshire include its state motto which is Live Free or Die and its nickname, the Granite State. Its abbreviations, on the other hand, are NH, N.H. and US-NH.

New Hampshire is also known for its major attractions which include skiing, motor sports, Bike Week, as well as fall foliage. Many people go to this state to relax and to enjoy. New Hampshire has also produced a lot of notable people like Daniel Webster, Dan Brown, Mandy Moore, as well as Adam Sandler.

However, despite the great attributes of New Hampshire, it is still not free from crimes. Based from the census in 2006, New Hampshire has the 48th highest crime index among the other US states. To breakdown, for every 100, 000 people, it has 175.4 (46th highest) reported incident for violent crime, 2, 257.8 (48th highest) for crimes against property, 1.8 (44th highest) for murder, 94.7 (47th highest) for aggravated assaults, 173.8 for vehicle theft and 404 (48th highest) for burglaries. It also has 42nd highest robbery rate and 9th highest forced rape reported per hundred thousand people.

Although the burglary rate of New Hampshire is below the national average by 324 per hundred thousand people, its crime rate statistics for 2006 is still higher than the previous years based from the US Census Bureau. If we are going to compare the crime statistics and reports of the year 2005 and 2006, it could be seen that the crimes have increased except from forced rape which decreased by 62. Particularly, the violent crime increased by 63, crime against property by 611, robbery by 58, burglary by 166 and vehicle theft by 76.

Because of these statistics, the security system of New Hampshire is considering ways to prevent the increase in the crime rates. Particularly, the security systems are encouraging greater home securities just like alarms, sensors, as well as outside lights. These would help the people of New Hampshire to protect their homes and properties, as well as their lives.
