Home Security Systems Utah
It came from the Ute Indian language, the name “Utah” means “people of the mountains.” Utah is a 88,849 sq. mi. state that lies in the western area of the United States of America. It was officially known to be one of the states of America on the 4th of January, 1896, being the 45th state to be recognized. Utah state became known for being the central area of transportation, different services of government, technological information, mining and including tourist spots as well as engaging into outdoor activities. The state also has St. George, its metropolitan area which is booming faster than the other metropolitan areas of the United States of America starting from the year of 2000 up to 2005, making the whole state of Utah the 6th fastest developing state as the year 2006 came in.
Even though this has been the positive case and image of the whole state of Utah, different types of crime have been one of the major problems of the residents of Utah. Since the last update in the year 2006, Utah’s population size reached about 2,550,063. With all the information that has been gathered, data show a total of 3,740 Crime Index Rate per 100,000 people. Even if it is relatively high, it is already the lowest rate since the year 1996. The Crime Index Rate shown is composed of 224 Violent crime incidents and 3,517 Property crime incidents, both are per 100,000 people. Under the Violent crime incident rate, it is composed of 2 Murder incidents, 34 Forced Rape incidents, 49 Robbery incidents, and 140 Aggravated Assault incidents. All incidents presented are per 100,000 people.
Under the Property crime incident rate, it is composed of 576 Burglary incidents, 2,614 Larceny Theft incidents and 325 Vehicle Theft incidents. All noted incidents are per 100,000 people. Even if the crime statistics record show that Utah’s case in the year 2006 was the lowest, there was a minimal but notable decrease from the previous years, especially from the highest rate of 5,996 Crime Rate per 100,000 people during the year 1997 with a lesser population of 2,059,000. Taking into consideration that the concerned government authorities are doing their best in decreasing these rates, the residents of Utah should also do their part to be active and be participative in all the warnings and reminders of their state leaders. They should not just rely on them along but be independent enough to do their own safety precautions and proper measures to prevent such occurrence of crimes.
