Wyoming is a state in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States. Wyoming became the 44th U.S. state on July 10, 1890. It covers an area of 253,326 square kilometers. Cheyenne is the capital of Wyoming, and Casper is the largest city. Wyoming’s mountain scenery attracts millions of visitors each year. Two U.S. national parks in the state are Yellowstone and Grand Teton. The Rocky’s Mountains sweep across Wyoming in huge ranges. Gannett Peak, the state’s highest point, rises 4,207 meters in the Wind River Range. Parts of the Missouri, Colorado, and Columbia river systems begin in the mountains of the state.

Several flat areas, called “intermontane basins”, lie between Wyoming’s many mountain ranges. The Great Plains cover much of the eastern part of the state. The Black Hills occupy Wyoming’s northeastern corner. Mining is the leading source of income. Petroleum, coal and natural gas are the leading mineral products in the state. Deposits of those mineral products are found in several parts of Wyoming. Government and trade employ many people in Wyoming. Government activities include operating military establishments. Cattle ranching is the main agricultural activity in Wyoming. Abundant natural resources, eye-catching surroundings, production, manufacturing, government services and employment opportunities, all in all, contribute to a general view of the state which these signify a good sign of success of the Wyoming State except for one thing, crime happenings in different areas of the state.

The state of Wyoming was estimated to have a population size of 493,782 in the year 2000 making it in the 48th highest all over the states of America. After six years, it increased up to 515,004 having a total Crime Index report of 1,890 incidents per 100,000 people. Violent Crime Rate was reported to have 240 incidents for every 100,000 people. Property Crime Rate was reported to have 2,981 incidents for every 100,000 people, considering that this count is already the lowest in ten years time since the year 1996. Under the category Violent Crimes, there are 4 crime subtypes that comprise it: 2 incidents of Murder, 27 incidents of Forced Rape, 14 incidents of Robbery and 197 incidents of Aggravated Assault. Under the category of Property Crimes, there are 3 crimes subtypes types comprise it. Namely they are: 450 incidents of Burglary, 2,379 incidents of Larceny Theft and 151 incidents of Vehicle Theft. All incident counts are for every 100,000 people basis.
