Home Security Systems Help in Medical Situations

When you plan to start your family, you plan EVERYTHING. You pick out names, cribs, paint colors, even nursery themes. The idea being that in this period of confusion and uncertainty, parents try to plan everything else. You even create a birthing plan: where you plan to deliver, as well as the best routes to take to avoid traffic and pack a bag to take with you to the hospital. You try to plan a solution to anything that may arise. But not everything can be planned. You can ask Wendy Stevenson. She was so excited for the birth of her first child, a boy she planned to name Liam. She had it all planned out. Three weeks before her due date, her husband, Doug, was finishing his last business trip planned before he was to become a new father. He was across the country the night she started to feel pains. She knew that with the first child, it can take up to 20 hours before the child is born so she didn't worry.

All the books told her to remain calm and her doctor suggested she take a warm bath to calm her muscles and to relax. If fact, her doctor joked saying it would be the last quiet bath she'd get to take for the next eighteen years. When getting out of the tub, she slipped, fell, and hurt her back. She couldn't get up to call for help.

This could have been a horrible situation. But thankfully, in all their careful planning, Wendy and Doug installed a home security system. When Wendy became pregnant, Doug feared something could happen while he was out of town, so he added a medical monitoring service to his security package. It included a pendant that Wendy wore at all times, even in the tub. She pressed the panic button on her pendant which automatically called the security company. The company's representative used the house's intercom system to contact Wendy to find out what the emergency was. The representative contacted emergency personnel and stayed in contact with her until they arrived. With the help of the EMTs, Wendy made it to the hospital where she delivered her beautiful and healthy boy. The security company even called Doug's cell phone so he could catch the next flight home just in time to be the first to hold his son.

Now Liam is home in his zoo themed nursery and Wendy is thankful to her security agent who helped her in her time of need. Doug is so grateful that he has decided not to cancel the medical coverage so in case something happens again while he is away, Wendy and Liam will be covered.
