Many years ago, way back in college, my best friend went through something no one should ever have to endure. The one thing every girl fears, every father dreads: an attack. She was living in a campus dorm. She put her personal security and safety in the hands of the Resident Advisors and her fellow class mates. That night she went to bed with the dorm room door locked. The outside doors were locked and only those students who live in that dorm were supposed to have access. What she didn’t know was that someone in the building was throwing a party and had propped open a fire door to let friends in the building past the security guards. Her roommate left in the night to go to the party and left the room unlocked. The rest can be imagined and sadly couldn’t leave her mind for years.
