Home security systems can do a lot. Home security companies are making the systems an “All in one” package. Not only do they alert you when someone tries to break into your home, but they alert you to smoke, and carbon monoxide. They can even help people get IN the house (when you want).

Last month I was awaken by the sound of my neighbor screaming and crying on her front porch. I rushed out to see what was going on. She informed me that she had gone out to the car to get some paperwork, leaving her toddler inside asleep. While she was out, the door closed and is set to automatically lock. She was freaking out that the child was inside and she was locked out. She didn’t bring her keys out with her and being so scared of someone ever finding a hidden key, she never left a key outside the home. She was completely distraught and could not think of what to do. She didn’t want to break a window or break down the door because she didn’t want the alarm to wake her son and for him to realize she was not inside. My husband suggested she call her husband and have him come and unlock the door. Sadly he was out of town and couldn’t get home for hours.

I had an idea. I ran and grabbed my cell phone. I had her call her home security monitoring company. After confirming her identity, they were able to remotely unlock her door and let her in. Thankfully, her boy was still sound asleep in his bed.

After this event, my neighbor contacted her home security company and had an external keypad installed. This home security system device allows her to unlock her home without the used of keys.
Home Security Systems – house is safe
Now this home security system device is great. I always thought it was nuts to have the doors automatically lock. I am the person who locks her keys in her car at least once a year and I was always locked out of my campus apartment because the door locked automatically. Having keyless entry makes the house secure because even if you’re out in the back yard and don’t hear someone arrive, you know the house is safe. You can keep the house locked at all times and not have to worry about struggling in the dark to find your keys at the bottom of your purse to unlock the door. This device is even better than those key fabs that unlock the door (like on your car) because you could still accidentally lock your keys in the house or in a car.
